WAHM Book Review

Thanks so much to Amber Del Guidice at www.wahmconnect.com for her awesome review of my book.

I Cannot Tell a Lie

by Ruth Thompson

When Jody breaks her mother's special cookie jar, she feels horrible but is even more afraid of telling the truth. When she studies God's commandment 'Thou shalt not lie' during devotion time, she begins to feel badly about lying, and another Bible story leaves Jody completely conflicted. Will Jody tell the truth or keep her lie quiet? Find out in I Cannot Tell a Lie.

24 pages - $8.99 (paperback)

I loved sharing this book with my children. It helps to teach them that telling a lie is not the proper thing to do. We read it together and about a week later my 6 year old daughter came up to me and said, " you know you should always tell the truth and never lie. I learned that from the cookie book."

I just loved it and so did they! The illustrations are perfect for kids and very bright and colorful too.

I highly recommend you purchase this book and share it with your children too.

A little info about the author Ruth Thompson:

She has been a frequent speaker at women's conferences and revivals in the state of Mississippi. She is also a pastor. Ruth is married and has two grown children: Jacob and Beth.

"I cannot tell a lie"

I have a 9 year old daughter, Jaeda. Boy have we had a struggle with her about lying. I think all kids go through that phase and what a frustrating one it is!

I love books as parenting tools because my daughter loves to read. "I cannot tell a lie!" is a book that teaches kids in a fun way why lying is sinful and why it hurts those we love, and God.

While the book is targeted at 4-8 year olds, my 9 year old daughter loved it. She said the "pictures were great" and Liked the message. It opened up a dialogue between us why lying is not good.

What is really great about the book is it comes with instructions to download the book in audio version so you can take it on the go!

The book has biblical reference on lying. This truly is a wonderful book for Christian parents looking for a teaching tool for their young ones going through the lying phase.

"I cannot tell a lie!" was written by Ruth Thompson. Ruth is a speaker and a Pastor. She has two grown children.

Book Review by Becca @ abckidz.blogspot.com

I Cannot Tell a Lie by Ruth Thompson
This is a children's book with an important lesson about one of God's Commandments: "Thou shalt not lie". The main character, a young girl named Jody, breaks her mother's cookie jar and decides to lie about it. She feels guilty and is conflicted about the situation. That evening her family discusses the 10 Commandments in their devotional time, and Jody realizes that lying is wrong. She asks for forgiveness and is forgiven.

What did I think?
My children and I truly enjoyed this book. The story is easy to understand for the kids while teaching them an important biblical lesson. My 3-year-old son has me read this book to him everyday (sometimes multiple times a day)! I'm not sure if he's fully grasping all of the concepts though, which is why the recommended reading age range is 4-8. But he has a basic understanding about what lying is and why it's wrong, so we can build on that foundation. He enjoys the illustrations and follows along with the story by looking at the pictures. He has the story memorized now and has started reading it to his younger brother:

This book would be good for beginner readers because it's short and simply worded. But I recommend this book for any family with young children because the moral lesson is too important to miss!

Thanks Becca!!

Check Out My Two New Ebooks!

Check out my two new ebooks, "Jesus and Demons: Will They Share A Temple?" and "Woman, Sit Down and Shut Up: Does God Believe In Women Preachers?"

They're both available in Kindle format at www.amazon.com and in Kindle, Epub and Pdf format at www.ruthsbooks.webplusshop.com.

In "Jesus and Demons" I explore the question of whether Christians can have demons.  I had never heard of such a thing until I moved to Mississippi.  Using Scripture, the reader is allowed to make their own decision.
In Woman, Sit Down and Shut Up, the question of women preachers is discussed.

Both books are based on Bible studies that have been presented at my present church and by request, to a youth group at a previous church.
